Buxières sous Montaigut is situated in the northern part of the Puy de Dôme region, the department of extinct Vulcanoes (Puys). It is a rural, quiet area with a hilly landscape. It is very suitable for walking and cycling. The numerous streams and lakes are excellent for swimming, canoeing and fishing.

In the surrounding villages lots of activities are organised, especially in summer, like flea markets and 'jeu de boules' matches. The neighbouring town of Montluçon has a well-preserved medieval centre and various museums. From Paris there is a direct train to Montlucon, where we can pick you up..

Sans Parure is an excellent place to have a stop-over during the journey to Spain of South of France, only 20 minutes from the highway A71! (exit 11 Montmarault).

Suggestions for daytrips are:
- hiking the Puy de Dôme
- visit the church in Saint Nectaire
   and also famous for its delicious
   cheese

- Very impressive is the little town
   of Oradour sur Glane. Time stood
   still when it was burned down and
   destructed during the war. 642
   people died.
